Whitchurch Cricket Club AGM 26th November – Committee Vacancies

Whitchurch Cricket Club AGM. It’s that time of year when WCC reflects on the last 12 months and plan and look forward to the next 12. If you want to find out what your local cricket club is doing, how it’s running and have your say on what you would like to see in the future, please come and join us at the White Hart on Sun 26th Nov at 6pm.

We are looking for more volunteers to join the committee, specifically we are looking for: Club Secretary, Fundraising & Events Coordinator, Fixtures Secretary and Facilities Manager (see below for more details on the roles and responsibilities).

While the current committee members are happy to continue in their roles, nominations for any roles are welcome (see below for full list). So if you have some spare time and would like to get involved, please contact the club by 25th November, via email to wcc200yrs@outlook.com.

Whitchurch Play Town at Whitchurch Silk Mill

Explore a world of play and imagination in our Whitchurch Play Town this summer.

From the 1 July – 3 September, there’s a great opportunity to stay a while, whatever the weather, in the beautiful surroundings of the Whitchurch Silk Mill, where our younger visitors can experience a Whitchurch play town in our exhibition area on the 1st floor of our Mill building. There they can enjoy a world of imaginative play with their parents, carers, friends and family with role play areas set up as a vets, nursery, doctors, grocery shop, post box, play cafe and a hairdressers. There will also be toy builder’s items and some extra play trays outside with themes such as dinosaurs and seaside to play with on the gravel area near our cafe and front lawn.

The Whitchurch Play Town will be here to enjoy all summer and will be open from 10.30am – 5pm during our opening hours, Tues – Sunday and Bank holidays, making it perfect to visit with friends and family too, especially if you have an annual pass. Annual passes can be purchased as E-tickets via our website or from our entrance in our cafe/ shop building.

Our picturesque outside spaces by the River Test are great to relax in whilst children play in our willow den and create special summer memories together.

Thank you for visiting us and supporting the Whitchurch Silk Mill Trust in it’s aim to preserve the endangered skills of Silk Weaving for future generations to enjoy.

Cost: up to 2 Adults & 3 Children £22, Concession (over Family 60s & Student) £9, Adult £10, Child (under 5s free) £5. Annual passes also available on the day, or via our website.

Whitchurch Silk Mill Open Gardens

Whitchurch Open Gardens Weekend will showcase stunning gardens in a circular walk starting and finishing at Whitchurch Silk Mill and stretching along the Mill Trail, following the River Test which runs through the centre of town.

Explore Whitchurch Open Gardens

Along the Garden Trail – You will walk along stretches of the River Test exploring stunning contemporary and traditional gardens never normally open to the public, all set in the stunning landscape.

With some old favourites and many new gardens in our first-ever Whitchurch Open Gardens, this is an excellent afternoon out in beautiful rural Hampshire. At least eight gardens will be open.

Cream Teas will be available to purchase on the Silk Mill Lawn, kindly supported by Rodda’s and Tiptree as part of their National Cream Tea Day celebration. Proceeds to support Living Weaving Heritage at the Mill. Afternoon teas are also available from some of the gardens with proceeds to Whitchurch Silk Mill. Hardys Plant stall will be available at Whitchurch Silk Mill.

 

Cost: £10.00 per person with accompanied under 16s free. Please book a free place for each under 16-year-old you will be bringing as each person will be given a pass. Your map and garden passes will be collected from the Mill on the day.

Dogs: As you will be visiting private gardens, we are sorry but there are no dogs allowed.

Toilet Facilities: Toilets are available at the Silk Mill and Bell Street Public Toilet.

Clothing & Footwear: Please dress for the weather as appropriate and wear protective shoes (no heels) as some of the gardens have steps and slopes.

This fundraising event has been kindly supported by Katherine Lee Garden Design, Jo South Artist, Hardy’s Plants, Roddas, Tiptree, garden owners opening their gardens, our volunteer stewards and Whitchurch Town Council.
