Whitchurch, Hampshire, where you can always be assured of a warm welcome!
Whitchurch is nestled in the upper reaches of the River Test valley and is Hampshire’s smallest town. It sits on the southern edge of the North Wessex Downs National Landscape (AONB), with glorious, tranquil countryside of sweeping chalk hills, valleys and pastureland offering peaceful walking trails and quiet country lanes for cycling.
The beautiful crystal-clear waters of the world-famous River Test flow through the centre of the town, past Whitchurch Silk Mill, Britain’s oldest silk mill still operating in its original building and now a popular year-round visitor attraction.
Just two miles upstream, along the popular waymarked Mill Trail, you will find Laverstoke Mill, formerly a paper mill and now home to the Bombay Sapphire Gin Distillery, another of the area’s popular visitor destinations.
Come and explore this lesser known part of Hampshire. With good road, rail and bus connections and so much to see and do, Whitchurch is the perfect place to visit for just a day, or as a base for a longer stay in North Hampshire.
