Bridge Replacement Town Mill Lane to Pound Meadow

New Whitchurch bridge officially opened

Whitchurch Conservation Group were joined by MP Kit Malthouse and other residents to officially open the new bridge over the River Test, funded by a Test and Loddon EU LEADER rural tourism grant at a cost of £26,412.

The bridge over a side channel of the river provides a safe walking route to town avoiding the stretch of busy London Street that has no pavement. It will particularly benefit local people with disabilities and families with small children who will now be able to travel over the river and safely into town, rather than risk taking the busy road.

Kit Malthouse thanked Whitchurch Conservation Group who’ve funded and have worked round the clock to make it happen.

Hampshire County Council will now formally adopt the bridge and create a new public right of way connecting Town Mill Lane with Pound Meadow.

👻 BOO!!! 👻 Stuck for something to do this Halloween half-term with the kids? 🎃 Why not bring your Little Crafters over to Hardy’s for a Fun and Fabulous Crafting Session.

Create an autumnal wreath perfect for the front door plus paint and embellish a ceramic pumpkin. in time for Halloween. In between, while everything is drying off, undertake the ultimate challenge of our devilish 😈 Pumpkin Hunt 🎃 – all included for the horrible sum of £9.50.

All materials are included.

The anticipated age range for the workshop is between 6 and 10 years old. Please note that all children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

The workshop is scheduled for 1.25 – 1.5 hour’s duration but may run on a bit longer depending upon the Pumpkin Hunt.

Work Begins on the River Bridge at Tufton

Work Begins on the River Bridge at Tufton

Great news Whitchurch! The Hampshire Countryside Access Team have today announced that work has commenced on the much awaited replacement bridge at Tufton.

The work is expected to take up to 8 weeks to complete and has to be managed in careful stages due to the constraints placed on working in a SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) and the imminent spawning season.
