Kick off the festive season and have fun creating your own unique Christmas wreath! Saturday 5th December During this 2-hour workshop, you will be shown how to create a 12-inch wreath, be given tips on working with the oasis, have the opportunity to work with fresh and varied foliage, and learn how to attach your final touches.

Unfortunately, we are missing some of our regular activities at the Centre due to Covid 19 restrictions, but are hoping to see them return soon.

Whitchurch Walkers are Welcome are supporting this year’s “Green Week”, with a grand community litter pick and we are encouraging as many Whitchurch residents as possible to get involved and help to smarten up the town.
Litter picking sticks will be available to borrow on a first come, first served basis from the 24th September.

Whitchurch Teapots Baby & Toddler Group After holding the role of Chair and Treasurer for several years, Steph and Sarah have passed the baton on to myself and Sophie to continue running Teapots. Many of our volunteers have also moved on and we would like to thank Steph, Sarah and the team for all of their hard work.
The Teapots committee are currently working through our Covid-19 risk assessment with the hope of reopening in the very near future. We have secured the All Hallows’ church room for the group, which will still take place on a Monday morning.
In order to reopen, we now need to build up the number of volunteers who are available to help run the group. Whilst the roles on the rota are not onerous, we do need a fairly large team of volunteers on the rota in order for the group to run. If you think you might be able to help out in any small way, I’d be grateful if you could get in touch at

Officially launching the Whitchurch Halloween Spooktacular Saturday 31st October 4pm-11pm 👻 Let’s get Whitchurch lit with glowing carved pumpkins 🎃 and spooky outside decorations… We will create a map showing where the attractions are, so that families with children can take to the streets to see all the pumpkins and displays in a socially distanced way. 😊

The beautiful riverside gardens at Bere Mill will be open to the public on the 20th September from 1:30 – 5pm in partnership with the National Garden Scheme. To conform with government guidelines and to ensure the safety of our volunteers and visitors, you will need to pre-book tickets, which are on sale now, through the NGS website www.ngs.org.uk .

The Whitchurch Association would like to send our thanks and best wishes to Councillor Barry Jackman as he stands down from the Town Council after 22 years of service.
Barry was a trustee of the Association from its very beginnings in 2007, guiding the new committee through the complexities of taking on a shared, leased building in a conservation area and on a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). He was the trustee responsible for Health and Safety, and while helping us to establish good working practices he also carried out a range of regular fire and electrical checks. With his professional links to Basingstoke & Deane and Hampshire County Councils and his position on the Town Council he was an ideal person for this role. Moreover, his practical expertise was a great asset to the daily maintenance of the Gill Nethercott Centre. We were sorry to lose him as a trustee in 2019, when we welcomed local resident Paul Driver as his replacement.
Barry’s concern for, and support of, the Whitchurch Association was always evident and his patient, friendly advice much valued. We wish him and his wife Sandra well for the future.

Football starts to return to normal with Whitchurch United playing in the FA Cup away at Bashley on Tuesday night 1st Sept at 19.45. So keep an eye on social media to see how they get on if you can’t get along to cheer them on!
The first home game at Longmeadow is against Romsey Town in the Wessex League on Saturday 12th Sept at 3pm.
