Whitchurch Folk Club – Ainsley Hamill

All the way from Scotland, Ainsley Hamill visits Whitchurch Parish Hall on 8th March 2025 with her third album Fable.

Ainsley is a former finalist in the prestigious BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician competition, and is noted for her “big and intriguing voice with a touch of wildness”. (Jude Rogers in The Guardian)

Her accomplished trio includes Sam Kelly of The Lost Boys, a musician specifically requested in our recent Whitchurch Folk Club audience poll, once a finalist in Britain’s Got Talent and with impeccable folk credentials. Also Toby Shaer, who plays an impossibly large number of instruments and has toured with John McCusker and Cara Dillon as well as being a regular with Honey & The Bear and The Lost Boys.

Friends of Daniel Park QEII Field – Spring Pruning in the Orchard

A little light pruning in the orchard, planting geranium plugs, removing spent brambles and other seasonal tasks.

If you would like to join us for a morning of laughter, learning, companionship and exercise, just turn up wearing suitable clothing. Gloves are always great, secateurs gets you bonus points but enthusiasm is the most important thing to bring.

This is a family friendly event. If all you want is to learn a little more about conservation and the park, you are very welcome to turn up and chat to us while we work.

National Theatre Live at the Parish Hall – The Importance of Being Earnest

Experience Oscar Wilde’s ‘The Importance of Being Earnes’t like never before, starring Ncuti Gatwa and Sharon D Clarke in a joyful, hilarious reimagining of Oscar Wilde’s most celebrated work – a trivial comedy for serious people, filmed live at the National Theatre.

While assuming the role of a dutiful guardian in the country, Jack lets loose in town under a false identity. Meanwhile, his friend Algy adopts a similar facade. Hoping to impress two eligible ladies, the gentlemen find themselves caught in a web of lies they must carefully navigate.

Max Webster (Life of Pi) directs this hilarious story of identity, impersonation and romance, filmed live from the National Theatre in London.
