ARMED FORCES DAY RETURNS to Vigo Park, Andover

ARMED FORCES DAY RETURNS to Vigo Park, Andover

ARMED FORCES DAY RETURNS FOR 2023

Armed Forces Day is set to return to Vigo Park this year and it’s set to be real showstopper!

The awe inspiring Apache helicopter is set to be the highlight of the day, provided by the Army Air Corps based at Middle Wallop. The combat chopper will appear alongside a Gazelle and other military vehicles, both modern and historical.

Andover Armed Forces Day Committee Chairman Richard Rowles said, “I am sure people will agree that we are privileged to have one of the world’s most advanced pieces of military technology come to our event. The presence of a multi-million pound flying gunship needs a lot of planning, and we are already working with the army, police and local councils to ensure its safe and visually impressive arrival”.

The event, which celebrates our Armed Forces past, present and future will also have exhibitions, re-enactments and family friendly activities. These will include – bridge building by the Royal Engineers, bushcraft activities and medal presentations for former forces personnel by the Mayor and deputy Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire.

Refreshments, fairground rides and a bar will all be on site, as well as live music from local artists.

If you would like to exhibit at, or sponsor this event, please contact Events Chairman, richard@rowles.co.uk or Tel: 01264 300030.

North Wessex Downs AONB Walking Festival 2nd – 11th June

** BOOKINGS NOW OPEN for the 3rd North Wessex Downs Walking Festival ** EXPLORE the ‘BIG CHALK’ with 9 days of walks to suit all ages and abilities.

With 27 events across the North Wessex Downs we invite you to explore more of this fascinating and beautiful landscape – There are opportunities to seek out wildlife or history, visit a working farm, develop your artistic skills – or simply just soak up the stunning views!

Our family-friendly walks at Cocklebury Farm, Savernake Forest and Marlborough provide great opportunities to get younger children outside and learning about the natural world.

Details of all the walks and activities and how to book are on the Festival website, so do take a look and be sure to book your favourites as places on all the walks are limited and last year many events booked up quickly.

As always we are very grateful to all the volunteers and organisations who are involved in the Walking Festival and make it possible.  Put simply, the festival wouldn’t happen without their help and support.

We look forward to seeing you in June!
