River Exploration Day at Whitchurch Silk Mill

River Exploration Day at Whitchurch Silk Mill

Have you ever thought about the history yet to be discovered in our rivers and what mud larkers do?

mud lark noun 1: a person who grubs in mud (as in search of stray bits of coal, iron, rope)

Join us on the 9th of July for a day of discovery with mud larker My Ordinary Treasure, and friends, at Whitchurch Silk Mill. Learn how they scour the bed of the River Test to discover treasures lost over the centuries and have a go yourself using a glass bottom bucket, or recreate some of the finds with our paper plate mosaic craft activity.

You’ll also be able to contribute to an upcoming exhibition at the Mill by helping us “weave a river”. Try out weaving on our hand loom to help grow our community made art piece. Why not bring along some river coloured scraps of any weavable materials from around the house (textile, plastic bags etc.) to really add your stamp to our woven story of the River Test.

Free admission to event in Mill grounds (Mill access not included).

An Evening of Swing with the Clive Fortune Big Band

An Evening of Swing with the Clive Fortune Big Band

An evening of BIG BAND SWING with the Clive Fortune Big Band – Saturday 2nd July at 7.30

Whitchurch Parish Hall are delighted to welcome the CLIVE FORTUNE BIG BAND for an evening of big band swing and jazz favourites.

There will be a cash bar for wine, beer & soft drinks.

Like so many places, the Parish Hall has seen a significant decrease in its income over the last two years. Unfortunately, maintenance and repairs still need to take place – you may have seen scaffolding up for repairs to the flat roof earlier in the year. Then during the recent WADS production there was a nasty sinking feeling when we went under the stage as the floor gave way. And have you seen how the chair coverings have been picked and peeled?

The Parish Hall is a charity and this is a fundraising event to help with the maintenance and repair costs.

Tickets £12.50 Book early to avoid disappointment!
