At last night’s (Monday 4th Nov) Whitchurch Town Council Meeting Councillors passed the proposal that:
Whitchurch Town Council opposes a waste to energy incineration and processing plant at the Harewood A303 Enviropark, Barton Stacey.
Meanwhile the leader of Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council has also expressed opposition following discussions. Whitchurch Borough Cllr David George who “has been working with BDBC and other community groups with regard to the proposed Wheelabrator Incinerator” has passed on this message from Cllr Rhatigan:
“…the proposals are unsupportable and that as Consultees we would lobby to that effect.
The communities of Whitchurch, Hurstbourne Priors, St Mary Bourne , and as far as Overton , need protecting and the Administration will stand behind them in their endeavours to rid themselves of the shadow that this proposal casts.”
DROP IN SESSION
This Saturday (November 9th), a Drop-in session is being held at the Town Hall from 9.30am to 11.30am.
Local volunteers and representatives from the Keep Test Valley Beautiful group will be on hand to assist local people in understanding Wheelabrator’s planning proposal

INCINERATOR DROP IN SESSION
The US giant Wheelabrator are also holding a public consultation at Testbourne Gymnasium on Tuesday 12th November 5.00pm – 9.00pm.
They have also been distributing packages of their proposals to households in the area.
Deadline for input into this stage of the planning process is 5.00pm on 12th December.
