Whitchurch is to see a Pre-loved Clothing Sale as part of a drive to reduce pressures on the environment as well as raising funds for Naomi House and Jacks Place.
On Friday 22nd November at All Hallows from 7.00pm–9.30pm clothing can be given a new lease of life. The £5.00 donation for entry also includes a glass of Prosecco and other attractions.
Pre-loved clothes can help Climate Change
Cutting back on the purchase of new clothing and re-using existing clothes is often cited as one of the areas where people can make a difference to Climate Change.
The UK parliament website* says:
The way we make, use and throw away our clothes is unsustainable. Textile production contributes more to climate change than international aviation and shipping combined, consumes lake-sized volumes of fresh water and creates chemical and plastic pollution. Synthetic fibres are being found in the deep sea, in Arctic sea ice, in fish and shellfish.
Not only will this event at All Hallows help address this problem, all profits will go to supporting a very worthwhile charity on our doorstep – Naomi House and Jacks Place
