SUMMARY:National Theatre Live at the Parish Hall - Les Liaisons Dangereuses
DESCRIPTION:The pen is mightier than the sword \nAmong the glittering salons of the super-rich\, patriarchy equals power\, reputation is everything – and for women\, one misstep can mean ruin. \nMarquise de Merteuil\, master in the art of survival\, wields her influence with intelligence and control. Alongside the magnetic Vicomte de Valmont\, they turn seduction into strategy and weaponise desire. But when their alliance collapses into rivalry\, the battle between them threatens to destroy everyone in their path. \nMarianne Elliott (Angels in America) directs Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread) and Aidan Turner (Rivals) in a striking new staging of Christopher Hampton’s (The Father) celebrated adaptation of Choderlos de Laclos’ classic novel – a thrilling game of love\, lies and social warfare. \nTickets are £12\, and you can:\n• Book online via TicketSource by clicking here\n• Reserve your tickets by calling 01256 896 877 (if necessary\, please leave a message including your name\, number of tickets and your contact number). SUMMARY:Ethereal Folk Singer Emily Portman & Friends "Dominion Of Spells" at Whitchurch Folk Club
DESCRIPTION:Into the Dominion of Spells: Songs of Midlife\, Myth and Wonder \nAward-winning folk singer and songwriter Emily Portman and friends take to the road this September\, performing material from her acclaimed new album Dominion of Spells\, alongside songs from across her celebrated catalogue. \nDominion of Spells charts a heroine’s midlife journey through dark woods in search of wonder. Drawing on ballads and folktales\, Portman weaves lived experience with rich mythic imagery\, exploring motherhood\, burnout\, mental health\, misogyny\, creativity and transformation. \nThe title derives from a phrase coined by William Harvey\, physician to King James I\, rooted in the ancient belief that women’s ‘wandering wombs’ moved around their bodies\, causing illness\, hysteria\, and witchcraft. Portman transforms it: her Dominion of Spells is a realm of wonder\, equality\, and liberation\, where women’s pain is believed\, their bodies understood\, and their voices heard. \nFolk traditions have always carried stories untold by official history. These songs stand in that lineage\, telling of women’s inner lives\, dreams and desires— as artists\, as mothers\, and wanderers in dark woods. \nTickets £20       Concessionaries £15 \nBook Tickets via this link

SUMMARY:Hardy's Nursery Behind the Scenes Tour
DESCRIPTION:Take a behind the scenes tour of our nursery on 7th October 2026.  From 10.30am – 11.30am \nUsually only offered to Gardening Clubs and Horticultural Societies\, this year we are offering individual gardeners the opportunity to visit and take a behind the scenes tour. \nThe tour includes a visit to our propagation house\, where your guide will tell you more about how we propagate our peat free herbaceous perennials\, a walk through our polytunnels and a look inside the potting shed.  Your guide is happy to answer any questions you may have about how we grow. \nThis is a rare opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of the nursery where Rosy Hardy continues to grow RHS Gold medal winning plants for her own floral displays and for other garden designers projects.  It’s also where we grow all of the stock we sell to the general public and to trade customers. \nAs herbaceous perennials are seasonal\, the plant material that you’ll see will vary throughout the year.  We anticipate a lot of colour and different cultivars and varieties at this time of year. \nTea\, coffee and biscuits included in the price.   \nBefore booking\, please consider the following: \n\nThe tour is a standing/ walking tour of 45 minutes to an hour.\nSeating is available but is limited.\nThe tour includes a step between tunnels.\nOur paths are gravel and uneven\, so it is essential to wear sturdy footwear.\nManual wheelchair users may find this tour a challenge\, whereas motorised wheelchairs should be ok\, but they will take an alternative route to avoid the step.\nPlease dress for the weather\, layers of clothing and hats are always useful. The propagation and other tunnels can be hot.\nPlease bring a water bottle if it is a hot day.\nOur potting shed is the summer home to returning swallows who will be flying around.\nWe will try and accommodate dietary needs e.g. gluten and dairy free but need to know 10 days in advance of the tour.\nWe cannot guarantee an allergen free environment. If you have a food allergy please let us know and bring your own snack.\nWe have 3 toilets on site\, 1 of which is adapted and fully accessible\n\nPlease note we are not a Garden Centre and do not have a tearoom or lunch facilities on-site but can recommend some great spots for lunch or coffee which are local to us. Please ask us for more information by emailing: info@hardysplants.co.uk \nIf you anticipate coming as part of a larger group and using a coach operator to travel\, please get in touch before booking.
