|UPDATE: Bank shut by HSBC and taken over for Town Council use|
A campaign was run in 2010 after hearing that HSBC (“The world’s local bank”) was planning to close its local bank located in the Town Hall – the last bank in town, and only 24 hour accessible cash machine.
In 2013, the Whitchurch Town Council announced that it would renovate the former bank location for use by the Town Council. Work got underway in the autumn of 2013 and the new facilities for the Clerk and local use are planned to be available in early 2014.
