Whitchurch Utd took on Folland Sports at the Longmeadow ground yesterday (Saturday) in the Wessex Sydenham League Premier Division.

The visitors took control in the first 10 minutes with the an easy goal following poor defending by Whitchurch and after a very good cross from the left wing.

The equaliser came after 27 mins when Isaac Sedu beat Folland’s goal keeper fair and square. Seven minutes later the Jam Boys took the lead on 35 minutes when Ashley Ledger headed home the cross from a corner kick by Luke Walker.

Some tough talking in the dressing rooms during half time saw both teams pushing hard in the second half. Folland equalised for the second time on 60 minutes. With both sides struggling to clinch the match, Whitchurch had two players sent off, but even then they managed to hold on for a deserved draw.

Tomorrow (Bank Holiday Monday) Whitchurch are away to Wiltshire team Downton.
