While the Olympic Torch Relay circled the nearby towns, Whitchurch was planning not to miss out.
Plans have been put in place for a special Torch Procession this coming Sunday (July 22nd) arranged by the Youth Project, but to which the whole town is invited.
Walk or Wheel – Everyone welcome
Everyone is invited along to take part in the ‘green’ theme – so bring bikes, scooters, skateboards, unicycles, wheelbarrows, prams and pushchairs … or even two feet in green wellies! It will take about 45 minutes and be very relaxed.
Setting off on Sunday afternoon at the Millennium Green at 2.00pm (meet from 1.45pm) the short route will be taken around some of the ‘iconic’ sites in the town, before crossing the finish line at the Town Hall. Amongst the places visited will be the GNC, the Silk Mill, the old Methodist Chapel, the Parish Hall, and it will end with the ‘official’ launch of the bollards outside the Town Hall – followed by suitable refreshments.
Forget London – this will be the event that the whole world will be watching!
1.45pm meet for a 2.00pm start,
Sunday 22nd July,

Not to be missed!
