The Jam Boys were beaten by the visitors from Blackfield and Langley this afternoon, in a game that produced just one late goal on a sunny afternoon at the town’s Longmeadow ground.

Whitchurch Utd 0 – Blackfield and Langley 1

The game was very even and could have gone either way with some fantastic goal keeping at both ends, and some very good football, clean, well tempered and well refereed. To concede in the 91st minute against the reigning League Champions was a cruel blow at the end of this competitive match. Whitchurch were very unfortunate not to have held the draw.

It was one of just three games in the Wessex Premier Division today (Saturday), and was always likely to be a tough contest. Whitchurch are having a hard start to the season with just two wins from their six League games, but need to keep focussed on the next match.

This is away against current League leaders Winchester City at the Denplan City Ground with a 7.45pm kick off.

The Whitchurch team hope supporters will be there to cheer them on.

Whitchurch now have a very challenging programme ahead of them with five away games in a short space of time, including two Cup matches.
