With two games into the new season in the Wessex Premier League after their promotion last year, Whitchurch United continue to look for their first win.

Against visitors Lymington Town at the Longmeadow ground they lost 1 – 2.

Lymington came out and dominated the first half taking an early lead after mistakes in the home side’s defence, which at times looked ragged against the more controlled play from the visitors. It was taking the Jam Boys time to settle in, but a penalty led to the ball again being in the back of the Whitchurch net, leaving them two down at half time.

The second half was better for the home team, and they came out fighting for a comeback, but several passes still went astray as Lymington’s superiority and more physical game took its toll.
As the final whistle approached Whitchurch placed the visitors under pressure but Lymington doggedly defended their advantage, although with minutes to go a consolation goal hit the net.

Final score:
Whitchurch Utd 1 – Lymington Town 2

Whitchurch take on Romsey at home on Tuesday (13th August), kick off at 7.45pm
