Walking for Health – Scheme Suspended
Unfortunately, the Walking for Health scheme has been suspended with immediate effect, following updated Government advice on minimising social contact because of the Covid-19 virus.
The following statement on the Basingstoke & Deane ‘Health Walks’ website page reads,
“Following the latest government guidance issued on coronavirus (COVID-19) on Monday 16 March, a decision has been taken to cancel our Walking for Health programme until further notice. We will keep you updated and would like to thank you for your patience during this time.”
The Coordinators for Whitchurch Walking for Health hope to resume the weekly Wednesday walks from the Gill Nethercott Centre, as soon as the official advice allows. In the meantime, it’s important that those people who are able to should still get out into the fresh air, enjoy a walk and continue to benefit from regular exercise, but please remember to observe all the official guidance:
- avoid unnecessary close contact with others.
- strict personal hygiene, hand washing etc.
- Please take care and avoid taking any unnecessary risks.
