A team of young volunteers spent a day of strenuous work clearing the overgrown and muddy steps adjacent to the Prince Regent.
The steps and path are a well-used route between London Road and The Green and are notorious for their uneven heights and varying step lengths as well as becoming overgrown.

Hampshire County Council who are responsible for keeping Rights of Way clear have been cutting back (no pun intended) on the work they carry out and community-minded volunteers have been filling in the gaps both on town paths and in the surrounding countryside.

In this case, the young people under the direction of Ben Robinson from Overton were carrying out their voluntary work as part of the National Citizen Service Scheme.
They were met by the Mayor and Mayoress of Whitchurch before tackling the arduous job of clearing the overgrown vegetation and cleaning the steps and path for which users are more than grateful.
