Over 40 people – including many families – came together to make a difference as volunteers on Sunday afternoon at the primary school: they brought shovels to clear away snow from the playgrounds, entrance road, paths and car park.

Roy Herbert, the site manager who organised the event, said he was “delighted with the help” and thanked everyone for giving up part of their day to help make the school grounds safer for the children ahead of tomorrow’s anticipated opening.

The school sent a message to parents this evening to say “If the weather is the same tomorrow, then the school will be open”.

Local builder A&M Hardy brought along a digger to clear the snow at the front of the school whilst many of the volunteers with shovels concentrated on the KS2 playground.
