Tornado, at St Mary Bourne viaduct, earlier this year.

It is one of the last opportunities this year to see a steam train come through Whitchurch (there is one more expected and it is next week).

This Saturday (7th September) the impressive Tornado returns as it hauls a Cathedrals Express Excursion from London to Cardiff and back.

UPDATE: Video of it passing through around 9am is on YouTube HERE.

Tornado is the newest steam locomotive, taking its first journey in 2008, having been built, not as a replica but as the 50th A1 Class loco. It is presently in a resplendent blue livery.
Local timings are estimated as:

0845 dep Basingstoke
0913 arr Andover
2056 dep Andover
2122 arr Basingstoke

Please don’t blame the website team if anything changes!
Steam engines can be fickle and timings may change – and sometimes even the loco.
