Whitchurch railway station saw train enthusiasts flock out as steam-hauled travel made one of its rare appearances on the local line.
The famous TORNADO, the new A1 class steam engine built by public subscription, passed through Whitchurch pulling an excursion train after a trip down to Swanage.
Cameras clicked, ‘film’ whirred and grown men became little boys, as the power of steam enthralled the excited onlookers.
There are a small number of other opportunities later this year to see steam trains pass through the town. It is understood Tornado may pass through Whitchurch again in late September.
