To mark 60 years of the reign of Queen Elizabeth, there is to be an extended weekend of celebrations from 2nd to 5th June 2012.

The Queen came to the throne on 6th February 1952 and her Coronation took place on 2nd June 1953.

Celebrations…
Amongst the celebrations there are to be a Jubilee lunch, a pageant on the Thames, a concert at Buckingham Palace, and 2012 beacons will be lit throughout the UK.
Local towns, villages and residents are of course being encouraged to mark the occasion too.

Special Bank Holiday
A special bank holiday has been announced.
The 2012 late May bank holiday is being moved to Monday 4th June, and an extra bank holiday will be on Tuesday 5th June.

What will Whitchurch do?
Will there be street parties, special lunches, features such as plaques or other commemorative installations, processions, services? The list could be almost endless.
Will groups, businesses, our councils get involved?
So what will happen in Whitchurch? How will our town mark the occasion? What do you think should be arranged?
