It must be one of the worst kept secrets in Whitchurch – the swans nesting on the river, right in the centre of town, and while the website visited most days, it decided not to report until the young had hatched.
For nearly two months the parent swans have been building their nest then keeping the eggs warm awaiting the entrance of their offspring into the big wide world.
Every day a never ending stream of people would hang their heads over the railings in the hope of seeing new life being brought into the world. They must be the most photographed inhabitants of our town.
And now the young cygnets are hatching, swimming around, and opening their eyes to the wonder of the nature around them while mother keeps a watching eye.
We welcome them to Whitchurch!
