The Silk Mill is undergoing a difficult time, and rarely has it needed so much support from the local community as it does now.
With calls for there to be much greater links between the Mill and the people of Whitchurch, never before have the Friends of the Whitchurch Silk Mill been so important.

The Friends are an independent group formed in 1989 to support the Mill in all its aspects.

The Mill needs support
Now is the time that local people can help the Mill by rallying together and joining the Friends.
With their AGM coming up this Autumn a clear message that the town supports the Mill can be made to the Board and Trustees of the Silk Mill. The new Board of the Mill can be shown that the people of Whitchurch care passionately about the Mill and how it is managed on their behalf.

As the Friends say:

Whitchurch Silk Mill is a special heritage site and the Friends help to promote and look after it to ensure its survival.

The people of Whitchurch can now help them in achieving this.

Membership is very modest and comes with a number of benefits.
Friends of the Mill presently receive the following:

  • Free admission to Whitchurch Silk Mill exhibitions, tea room and gardens during normal opening hours
  • 25% discount in the Silk Mill tea-room
  • 10% discount in the shop on the last weekend of each month
  • Reduced rates in the programme of events
  • Newsletters to keep you in touch
  • Mailings concerning special events.

Individual membership is just £8.00, Family (2 adults and up to 3 children) is £13.00.
If you join now, membership takes you to the end of 2013 too!

Great fun on Volunteer Days
In addition to the above, regular Volunteer Days are held which can be great fun – you can help in a whole range of tasks from painting to gardening. These are not just helpful to the Mill but are also very sociable occasions and a lot of fun.
