Race for Life Southampton (The Common) 14th July
The Butcher’s Babes will be running again this year to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
This year’s team members are:
Liz Jones, Jackie Agate, Jenny Robins, Maggie Donovan, Barbara Russell, Deb Crook, Linda Jones, Sandra Smith, Sue Adams, Heni Wiltshire and Pauline Rees.
The team will be running in memory of local Whitchurch butcher John Dennett, who sadly lost his battle with cancer last year. Many of the team have also lost friends and family to this dreadful disease, or know friends or family who are currently affected by it, so are running for them too.
The team says:
“If you have been touched in any way by cancer, please dig deep and sponsor us.
Did you know that more than 1 in 3 of us will develop cancer at some point in our lives? And with our ageing population, this statistic is getting worse.
Visit our justgiving page at Whitchurch Butcher’s Babes, or drop a cheque made out to ‘Cancer Research UK’ in to Philip Langley Butchers or H’s Café.”
Cancer Research UK is fighting for a world where no one’s life is cut short by cancer. And there is real hope. Each year their scientists get closer to finding cures for cancers – whether through targeted treatment or simply detecting cancers earlier. Genome mapping and new technologies have put them on the brink of major breakthroughs. With continued help they hope to turn these breakthroughs into treatments that could save millions of lives and accelerate progress against this devastating disease.
“Sooner or later we will find cures for all cancers. Let’s make it sooner!”
