Test Road has become notorious locally for difficulties at the weight restricted bridge and also on the sharp bend.
Issues over both the level of traffic and the parking arrangements have been considered by many to be long overdue. Problems were exacerbated when drivers of large vehicles ignored signage when the town square roundabout was closed and parking in these areas can also cause problems for emergency vehicles.
Local Councillors have often discussed these issues and raised them with Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council who are the parking authority.
Basingstoke & Deane have now issued a notice of a proposed Traffic Order. The intention is to restrict a ‘no waiting at any time order’ on these two areas of Test Road – the inside side of the sharp bend and on both sides of the bridge.
All objections and representations in respect of this proposal must be sent in writing to the Local Government and Litigation Team by Friday 3 January 2020.
Objections may also be sent by email to the following address: firstname.lastname@example.org
All objections must state the grounds on which they are made.
Full details of this proposal are contained in the draft Order. This, together with the plans and statement of reasons, can be inspected from Monday to Friday during normal office hours at Parklands Reception, Civic Offices, London Road, Basingstoke, Hampshire RG21 4AH, or on the Council’s website at TRAFFIC ORDERS
The title of the Order, if made, will be:
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council
(Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting and Loading and Unloading and Parking Places (Consolidation) Order 2018) (Amendment No. 14)(Various Parishes, Basingstoke) Order 2019.
