Worn surface to be temporarily replaced.

The pedestrian zebra crossings in the Square have been requiring work for some considerable time as much of the surface has worn away.

Several people have reported issues at the crossings.

The present surface was laid just three-and-a-half years ago.

The following has been received from Whitchurch Town Council:

Following persistent efforts by the Town Council, the zebra crossings in the Square will be repainted by Hampshire County Council contractors this Saturday, 23rd November, weather permitting.

This is a temporary measure to improve safety at these points.

Works to rebuild the crossings with different, more durable materials are scheduled to take place in March 2014, again depending on weather conditions.

Has anyone raised concerns for a zebra crossing needed by the GNC? So many children and parents cross from the alley way to the GNC for after school clubs and sometimes it is impossible to cross
