Today (Wednesday) was the hottest day of the year in Whitchurch as temperatures soared in the afternoon to 30.8°C (that’s 87.4°F in old money).

Yesterday was the year’s record too, but just one day later that has been beaten.


The town looks colourful.

Meanwhile this sunny weather is making the town look tremendous, with the hanging baskets supplied by the shopkeepers now in full bloom, the flags and bunting still fluttering in the light breeze, and the new ‘Olympik’* bollards all adding colour to the street.


* now named as such to avoid the IOC!
