The Town Council last night heard how the month long Summer Streetz programme of youth activities will be coming to Whitchurch, when a presentation was made to the Councillors by Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council.
The scheme which runs from July 26th to August 27th includes free activities for 11 to 17 year olds and will be held at a number of local venues, including the Gill Nethercott Centre, Testbourne Community School, the Skate/BMX Park and the Parish Hall.
Throughout the period there will be a regular Open Access Club with large screen Nintendo Wii, Xbox, Dance mats, and other exciting attractions.
In addition there are sessions including DJ Workshops, Street dance, a range of sports from basketball and football to BMX, and art activities including a Graffiti Workshop and Pottery painting.
The events are being supported by a range of organisations including the local Whitchurch Association and the Whitchurch Youth Project as well sponsorship from Sovereign Kingfisher, Shire Pharmaceuticals, B&DBC and the Community Safety Forum.
