The national public sector strike will be hitting Whitchurch next week as both Whitchurch Primary School and Testbourne Community School have now announced that they will be closed next Wednesday, 30th November.
Many of the school’s teachers will be on strike as part of the national industrial action organised by the trade unions about changes to the Pension Schemes of their members.
The Headteachers have informed parents that the situation will be monitored on a daily basis and that the latest information will be put on the school websites. Parents are urged to check these as the situation may change.
Note that this also means that the SIMPLY Out of Hours Club at the Primary School will also not be operating.
It is understood that the Year 8 Parents Evening at Testbourne will be rescheduled.
Headteachers and Governing bodies are not permitted to close schools ‘in sympathy’ with the strike. However they are being closed for the safety and effective supervision of the children as there would not be sufficient staff present.
More than two-million public sector workers are expected to take part in the strike throughout the UK.
Other schools in Hampshire that are closed are being listed by HCC HERE
