Many local organisations shared their plans showing what a vibrant town Whitchurch is becoming, with around 20 different groups being represented.
A wealth of events are planned – and a new hotel!
Those present heard of coach trips, a tea dance, photographic displays and walks, a book launch, a motocross event, a tennis day, history exhibitions, a flower festival, a new business group, a cycle trail, and even the building of a creepy-crawly bug hotel – will the latter attract tourists to the town for all the Jubilee events also announced?
These events and many others mentioned will appear on the website’s calendar as details are confirmed.
Daniel Park was raised
One major item discussed was the potential loss of part of Daniel Park for a road and how that can affect the open space, traffic and safe routes to school. Much concern was expressed that if the Borough Council takes no notice of local opinion on this, what hope is there in the future for community involvement and participation under the principles of ‘Localism’.
The Community Together meetings are held approximately every three months and are an ideal opportunity for sharing information and experiences.
The next meet will be in June and the date will be announced on this website.
