Perhaps the most innovative and creative event of next week’s Jubilee holiday is a brand new event, for everyone, and run by the young people of Whitchurch – GTSkateFest, (GrindTime SkateFest) – an eclectic mix of music, art, picnic in the park, skating, street party, and loads of fun!
Celebrate the Park, the Jubilee, the coming of Summer – Skate, BMX, Spectate.
A free celebration
Organised wholly by the young people of Whitchurch under the direction of Emz, aka Emma Elise Sherman with a team of friends and helpers, this Jubilee weekend event will be a free celebration of music, fun and creativity. Based on Daniel Park, the whole town is invited – bring the kids, great grandad too, anyone, or just turn up and enjoy.
Music, art, fun, and relax
Why not cycle or walk there – take along a rug and picnic, enjoy the new QEII Jubilee Field, listen to the music, perhaps try out some art, or even skating or BMX riding.
Drinks and refreshments will be available too.
Its just the place to relax too, if you were in the previous day’s Pub Race and need some grass to lay down on; but don’t miss the ‘Skate-off’ at 4.00pm!
The community street party of the weekend
With three local bands booked, the opportunity to do some graffiti painting and competitions on the skatepark, it will make an ideal venue for anyone looking for a slightly different community street party.
Music will be by:
- We Deny
- Bless the Hours, and
- The Gentry Underground.
Supporters of the event include, The White Hart, BT, Whitchurch Arts, Whitchurch Town Council, Whitchurch Festival, Whitchurch.org.uk as well as many other helpers.
Note: The involvement of BT is as part of the ‘awards’ they are making to the town for winning the UK Race to Infinity for Faster Broadband.
