The Whitchurch Association has secured £2,000 to go towards Singing for the Brain sessions to be held in the Gill Nethercott Centre.
The initial Have Your Say grant awarded us £300, an anonymous donor gave £700 and the Whitchurch Welfare Trust have match funded this to make up it up to £2,000. What this means is that we have enough funds to run singing sessions for Altzeimer suffers and their carers for weekly sessions for a year. Very good news.
Singing has been proven to have real benefits for those who suffer from this dreadful condition. This is an activity for dementia sufferers and their carers. The Singing and Music sessions are run in conjunction with the Alzheimer’s Society and can help delay the development of this disease, as well as providing access to forgotten memories.
A HUGE thank you to our anonymous donor, the Whitchurch Welfare Trust and the people who voted for Singing for the Brain on the Have Your Say day.
Now we can get going on the planning. Keep you posted!
