Whitchurch Silk Mill and the waterwheel on the river tributary.

The Whitchurch Silk Mill’s waterwheel needs to have repairs due to bearings being worn out. This means that it will not be turning in the river’s current.

The Mill itself will still be open for visitors as usual – and indeed the machines inside will still be run using electricity from the mains (as they normally are).

The fault was caught during a regular inspection one morning last week. One of the bearings in the waterwheel had worn away. If left, then the seating for it might be damaged, so as a precaution the wheel has been stopped to prevent any possibility of further problems.
