Shop Window Shield smOne again traders and businesses in the town helped the Whitchurch festive atmosphere as their windows added colour and sparkle to the Christmas streetscene. The hard work by the many businesses to the seasonal spirit help make the town a joy to shop in.

The Queen’s Golden Jubilee Shield
Each year a Shield is presented to the window judged to be the best.
The award was first presented in 2002, having been introduced by the then Mayor Cllr Barry Jackman. It was also first awarded as a recognition of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee of that year.

More than 50 premises visited
This year’s winner was selected after more than 50 premises were visited by a panel of judges – and it was a hard choice to make.
And it was:
Kingsley Financial Management, Winchester Street.

Christmas Window 2017 smPresentation
Eamonn Keelan received the Trophy from Whitchurch Mayor John Buckley in their Winchester Street Office – which was also home to Santa on the Lights/Shopping evening!

All the shops and businesses which decorated their windows are thanked for adding to the Christmas atmosphere in the town, making it a more pleasant place in which to shop, work and just enjoy.

This year judges also visited all the pubs – winners will be announced here next week.
