We have just heard from the police that the A34 is closed southbound at Litchfield.
From the Police:
Please avoid the A34 southbound at Litchfield this afternoon (Friday).
We’ve had a serious injury collision there involving a car and two coaches and the road has been closed off.
BBC reports (3.52pm):
Delays on A34 northbound between the Whitchurch junction and the Litchfield junction, because of people slowing to look at an accident.
Highways Agency and AA Reports:
The A34 southbound is closed between the junctions with the A343 and the A303, due to a serious accident. Road expected to re-open from 7:00 pm.

Sadly, an elderly woman involved in the collision on the A34 southbound at Litchfield has died. She was a passenger in the car. If you’re stuck in traffic, the s/bound should be re-opening in the next 45mins to an hour.

The road has been reopened in both directions.
