Young four year old Ruby, now on the way to recovery from her operation for her Hip Dysplasia, has taken her first ride in her new wheelchair! Ruby loves it and has had a few lovely trips out to the Old Paper Shop and to the duck pond.
The fantastic effort by many in the Whitchurch community has made this possible, raising the much needed funds for the chair through many activities.
Ruby’s Mum Sal Lavender said:
“It will make such a big difference to us, and I know to other parents in our position.”
Danny, from Chunc, the specialist manufacturers, took over two hours adjusting it to fit her exactly. The chair is being donated to the Red Cross after Ruby has recovered, as they are in short supply. Danny left a box of lots of bits to help other users to fit in the chair in different casts and has offered his time for free to come out and show the Red Cross how to use the chair when it is passed over.
The support from the people of Whitchurch has been terrific and funds are still coming in with the excess going to the Steps charity (see below).
Anyone who would like to help Ruby’s cause can contact their parents HERE.
The email goes direct to Ruby’s parents, not to this website.
