The local registered charity manages the Gill Nethercott Centre as well as running a number of local projects. Those present heard how the Town Defibrillator provision is developing, how Walkers are Welcome has become established, and how the Town Website (this site) and associated Social Media has been updated. Meanwhile the aspirations to set up a Local Food Network continues and the Arts Project is to be revamped this year.
Thanks and Changes
The Association has good finances and the Gill Nethercott Centre is well-used with around a 34,000 annual footfall. Thanks were specifically given to Sarah Castle and Sue who has been managing the Gill Nethercott Centre successfully with a wide range of events and activities. Sarah is who is soon to leave her post and a process is currently underway to appoint a successor. Thanks was also given to Barry Jackman for assisting with ongoing maintenance issues, while on the other side of the fence Hampshire County Council received adverse comment on the lack of window cleaning and difficulties in dealing with them over invoicing.
The three core officer roles were re-elected, Denyse Coles as Chair, Sandra Smith as Treasurer, and John Mariner as Secretary.
The Comms team who manage the town’s community website and its associated Facebook and Twitter accounts were also elected, being John Buckley and Andrew Reeves-Hall, while Harriet Titcomb continues with the GNC Facebook presence. The team of Trustees was also elected.
