Many locals and visitors took the opportunity to visit the event which included displays by gardening associations and businesses, a refreshment area, a children’s activity room and a large area selling over a hundred kinds of potatoes at 17p each (or 10 for £1.50).

Several local businesses in the town centre offered special discounts to link up with the event – including Velvet Rose, a new fashion shop that opened for previews, and is scheduled to officially open in mid-February.

Gardening organisations and businesses sold equipment and tasty treats.
