The annual potato days event this weekend saw many locals and visitors mashed together in Testbourne Sports Hall. There were about 150 varieties of seed potato available for purchase including some heritage and organic varieties.

Upstairs there was tea, coffee and snacks for sale; A children’s activity room was staffed by Friends of Whitchurch Primary School (FOWPS) where kids could stamp out paintings using carved spuds.

Several organisations set up stalls to display their offerings too, such as the local branch of National Vegetable Society, Higgins Group, Charlton Park Garden Centre, Harroway Organic Gardens, Tufton Plants and Pennard Plants. The speaker arranged for this year was Chris Bird from Sparsholt College.

The event was sponsored by Working4Whitchurch. Admission was just £2. Last year, the organisation reported that there were 2,000 visitors.
