Plans are progressing well for Whitchurch’s its own Green Week and Green Fair this September running from Saturday 21st to Sunday 29th as part of Basingstoke’s Borough-wide initiative.
It has input from several local organisations including, amongst others, the excellent new ‘Low Waste Whitchurch’ group, the very active ‘Walkers are Welcome’ team and the focussed ‘Keep Test Valley Beautiful’ campaign.
A week of activities
During the Week several events are taking place including Litter Picks, a talk on Bio-Digesters, Walking and Cycling events, as well as promotion of regular activities. Many are in support of the Climate Emergency that has been recently been declared.
On the afternoon of Saturday 28th September a Green Fair is being held at the Gill Nethercott Centre (1.30pm – 4.30pm) with a number of displays and activities ranging from making Beeswax Wraps to EcoBricks, Electric vehicles, details of a new local Bus Walk route, cycling information, and details of the Bin-It Harewood Incinerator Campaign. Many are being provided by the very enthusiastic and pro-active Low Waste Whitchurch Group which meets monthly in the town.
The full programme can be seen at:
