Several planning applications recently submitted to B&DBC will, if approved, see changes to well-known places in the town. A longer-term plan for new housing is being formulated, too.
The Parish Hall committee has put in the first of the planning applications for its previously announced changes: Installation of replacement windows and door and demolition of rear addition
Railway Hotel Pub (site of temporary car park)
The developer of the land where the Railway Hotel pub once stood has put in an “outline” application to erect 6 houses on the site, which is now a temporary car park. A campaign to save the Railway Pub tried in vain to save the pub from being demolished. The developer has yet to complete the required conditions of completion of the car park, like installing bike racks, planting trees and creating a one-way system.
Tesco Express store has submitted a proposal for the installation of an external cash machine. A separate story on this has been published – see HERE.
Cllr Watts has called a public meeting for next Tuesday, 14th December at 7pm in the Gill Nethercott Centre, to collect residents’ views on how many houses should be built in our area over the next 20 years – see story HERE.
