WADS’ winter show, which will take place in the Parish Hall in January, is a rather different take on Cinderella.
It’s certainly not a pantomime – it’s more of a comedy play for all the family. This version, by Stuart Paterson, has three balls, no pumpkin, and Cinders weighing up the options of who’s the better catch, the Prince or the kitchen boy. The Guardian said this about the play:
“This spunky, radical version of the story produces one of the strongest, funniest and most effective pieces of children’s theatre I’ve seen in years.”
In fact, Stuart Paterson’s Cinderella is a hoot for young and old, with The Scotsman describing once performance where “small children and sarcastic critics were held from beginning to end.”
There will be four performances – three in the evening from Thursday 9th to Saturday 11th January 2014 and one matinee on the Saturday. Tickets will be £12 and £7 for children and concessions and are available now online at wadsweb.org.uk or by telephone from Claire Isbester on 01256 892514, via firstname.lastname@example.org, or on Facebook at facebook.com/WADSweb.
