The Town Council is lodging an objection towards more housing in Bloswood Lane.

At last night’s Town Council Development Committee, Councillors unanimously supported the proposal to object to the application for up to a further 112 houses in Bloswood Lane.

Bewley Homes who already have planning permission for 83 houses had submitted an outline application to build a further 112 homes between their existing site and the A34.

The site is listed within the Local Plan as taking around 150 houses, and this would result in around 45 additional dwellings.

Councillors objected on a number of grounds including excessive housing numbers, infrastructure, traffic, noise and sewerage requirements. It was also noted that the Neighbourhood Plan already caters for Whitchurch’s housing needs. The Neighbourhood Plan is presently in its final stages before a local referendum and has been the result of extensive local consultations.

The Bloswood Lane application will now be decided by the planners at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.
