Whitchurch Town CouncilThe Town Council meeting last night saw the election of our mayor and deputy, as well as the setting up its various committees.

This year, our town’s mayor is Cllr. Barry Jackman, who was deputy mayor last year, and our mayor a few times in the past.

A fresh face is to be our new deputy mayor: Cllr. Jackie Day. She was first elected to the Town Council on 17th December 2009.

The three new councillors from the uncontested election held earlier this month were officially welcomed to the town council: Cllr. Allan Vaughan, Cllr. Claire Isbester and Cllr. Mike Kean.

An election is to be held for the one vacant seat on the Town Council (story HERE). Our new mayor noted today that, “There is no news as yet about who is to stand or when the election for the remaining councillor will be.”

The town clerk has not been feeling well recently, however it is hoped that information will shortly be available on the Town Council website. We wish Cathy a speedy recovery.
