The South East Plan has been abolished and with it the regional house building target, previously required of the Borough.  Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council now wants us to tell them how many houses we think should be built in our area over the next 20 years – see our article published on that HERE.

The Borough Council intend to publish their findings at the end of 2011 as part of their Core Strategy document which when approved will replace the Local Plan and provide the blueprint for development in Basingstoke & Deane district over the next 20 years.

Between now and Friday 14 January 2011, the borough council is encouraging ward councillors, parish and town councils, community groups and residents to get involved at this important stage of consultation to give their views and what they think is right for their area.

There will be a meeting for everyone interested in giving their views or finding out more on Tuesday 14 December 2010 at 7.00pm in the Gill Nethercott Centre in Winchester Road, Whitchurch.

The meeting has been organised by members of the town and borough councils who will be there to provide background information and local facts, answer questions and engage in discussion with residents. Survey forms will be available for residents to complete at the meeting or take away.

For those who cannot attend, there are information fact packs online at www.basingstoke.gov.uk/go/newhomes, which include population facts and figures for different parts of the borough, together with more detailed background information and an online survey. Whitchurch is included in the South West Parishes area.
