New Drop-off point for School Buses
Construction of the new school bus drop-off point for Testbourne pupils has been progressing at the new Mill Springs development in Winchester Road.
Safety and Congestion
The new facility will enable school buses to avoid using the notorious Micheldever Road junction which will both improve safety and ease congestion especially at peak times.
The bus bay is being provided by developers David Wilson Homes as part of their contribution towards local Whitchurch amenities and is an example of how developers can fund improvements for the town.
A direct path link into Testbourne is also being constructed.
Park and Stride?
There have been suggestions by some residents that once the school buses use the new Drop-off, the existing area in Micheldever Road could possibly be used for a Park and Stride location for the Primary School. This would ease the school-run traffic situation.
It is not yet known when the new bay will become operational although the DWH Marketing Office at the site thought that the works may be completed in December.
As well as the drop-off point, DWH are also to be providing a number of much needed sports pitches in an agreement arranged with Whitchurch Town Council.
