The Parish Hall has cancelled the showing of Anna Karenina on Thursday 17th. January.

When the Parish Hall committee was alerted to the fact that the film Anna Karenina was being shown at the Gill Nethercott Centre on Thursday 24th January they immediately cancelled their showing of the film.

The committee takes the view that it is better for the two venues to work together with events rather than work in competition.

That’s great news – not that the Parish Hall had to cancel a film, but that the committee has expressed the wish to work with the GNC rather than (as it had seemed to an outsider) against it. We are so lucky to live in a town with a choice of fantastic amenities, and it always seemed such a pity that the Parish Hall appeared to have a “them and us” take on things. Vive la cooperation!

The Parish Hall is a facility made available by volunteer Trustees for the benefit of the Whitchurch community.
It is simply not true for Caroline Barber to say they “ work against the GNC” and they ”have a “them and us”take on things”.
They just get on with the taxing job of maintaining the Hall, for hire to the public, and for the occasional fund raising events.
Being a “newcomer” is no excuse for these ill informed aspersions.
She owes the Trustees of the Whitchurch Parish Hall Charity an apology.
