This weekend saw another steam train come through Whitchurch, this time engulfing the station and in a thick smoke reminiscent of years gone by!

The Battle of Britain class Tangmere 34067 passed through on Saturday evening watched by another interested gathering at the station and on the bridges. It was taking a Cathedrals Express excursion and was on its way back from Dorset to London.

UPDATE: A video is now on YouTube HERE.

Another kind of steam…
Next Saturday there is a different type of steam engine as the Whitchurch as the Whitchurch Festival is hoping to have a road running steam engine as part of its procession, adding to this ever growing spectacle for the town.
It will proceed along the route through the town to the Primary School to join the other attractions at the Fete; See FESTIVAL PREVIEW

Further planned steam trains…
Then on Thursday 28th July Tangmere comes through again, but this time in the opposite direction as it takes a heritage train from Salisbury to Canterbury and back.
The next planned steam train is not expected until December 14th, when the famous A1 Tornado, is planned to take a train through on the way to Sherborne.
