Hot on the heels of a new timetable and a change of the 76/86 Whitchurch services in serving the Basingstoke Railway station, comes more news of further alterations.

Road closure requires diversion
From last Monday the new timetable showed that only buses entering Basingstoke passed the Railway Station.
Now just one week later that too is to cease.

Work is due to start on a new pedestrian and cycle link along Alencon Link, from Victory Roundabout to the Chapel Hill roundabout. Diversions commence on Monday 22nd April and are expected to last until November.
Buses will travel via Churchill Way (the underpass) and have a temporary stop at the bottom of the footpath to Alencon Link for access to the station – so leave more time if wanting to catch a train.

Fares increase
Meanwhile don’t get caught out without enough money either.
As from this Sunday, 21st April, fares are increasing. Stagecoach say this is due to “continued rising costs, including labour, fuel and insurance”
They also say “As the cost of motoring continues to rise our bus services continue to offer a greener, smarter and better value way to travel.”
