The work is not expected to take more than one day and will be carried out on a Sunday to minimise disruption. It is presently understood that work will be being carried out on 20th March.
The Order states that traffic will be prohibited from the junction with Newbury Street to the junction with Lynch Hill Park.
The official alternative route will be north via the Kingsclere Road then following the B3051 to Overton before taking the B3400 back to Whitchurch.
However, the Stagecoach Sunday buses will use Lynch Hill Park but they will be unable to serve the bus stops on the closed section.
